Big Bang Comedy Block for SoHo
SoHo hopes to get more bang for its comedy buck next year with the the launch of a two-hour laughfest block with a Kiwi connection on Thursdays.
It has teamed the latest seasons of Girls, Looking and Getting On with newcomer Togetherness (above).
Togetherness stars Melanie Lynsey (Heavenly Creatures, Two and a Half Men) as one of four adults nearing 40, living under the same roof and struggling to keep their relationships and dreams alive.
It co-stars Amanda Peet (The Good Wife), Mark Duplass (The League, The Mindy Project), Steve Zissis (Jeff Who Lives at Home) and ’80s vets Mary Steenburgen and Peter Gallagher.
Duplass and his brother Jay created the series, which will run for eight weeks and premiere here on January 15, four days after its HBO bow.
It will be sandwiched between season four of Girls at 8.30, S2 of Looking at 9.30 and S2 of Getting On at 10.00 (S3 of Girls and S1 of Looking will have box-set marathons on January 10).
And on new Year’s Day SoHo also will air Billy Crystal: 700 Sundays, an HBO comedy special based on his award-winning, one-man Broadway show.
