Blow Up Gets Leg Up on Lego
Three’s new balloon sculpture competition Blow Up led Lego Masters NZ in the 25-54 ratings on Tuesday but couldn’t puncture the appeal of SPCA Rescue and Border Security.
It averaged a 15.6 share of the core commercial demographic, or 45,323 viewers.
Lego averaged a 14.1 share (41,114), SPCA Rescue an 18 share (51,505) and Border Security a 20.2 share (59,816).
In the 18-49 demo, TVNZ 1’s reality duo still ruled but Lego narrowly out-rated Blow Up, with a 12.9 share (31,000) vs the latter’s 12.0 share (28,932).
Replacing Barkley Manor with re-runs of Border Security has significantly boosted TVNZ 1’s key demo shares from 8.00-8.30.
This week it out-rated its lead-in in both whereas its predecessor shed viewers.
As a result, lead-out Mt Hutt Rescue was able to seesaw with Three’s top-rating movie Jumanji: The Next Level.
Jumanji averaged higher shares over the two hours but Hutt and TVNZ 2’s CSI: Vegas were competitive when the three went head-to-head.
Hutt posted shares of 15.8+ while CSI averaged a 16.7 share of 25-54s and a 14.3 share of 18-49s.
Jumanji’s blockbuster shares — 21.8 of 25-54s, 25.0 of 18-49s — were driven by the movie’s second half crushing TVNZ 1’s Coronation Street and TVNZ 2’s Unbelievable Moments Caught on Camera.
Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.
