Blu-ray Alert: April 14-20
US reviewers of the Blu-ray release of the latest in the Twilight saga, New Moon, thought the extras outshone the movie.
The sequel to the teen vampire phenomenon goes on sale here on Wednesday, after the DVD and Blu-ray sold more than four million copies in its first weekend in the US and renewed enough interest in the original that Twilight also wound up in the top 20 again.
Interestingly, 17% of New Moon’s first-weekend sales were on Blu-ray, compared to only 3% of Twilight’s when it was released a year ago.
The extras include a commentary by the director and editor, and a segmented making-of hour.
Also new on Blu-ray from Wednesday are the Ted Danson-Justin Timberlake father-son comedy/drama, The Open Road, and the cult favourites, Dogs in Space and Withnail & I, while the Japanese sci-fi ‘toon, Vexille, comes out Thursday.
