Blu-ray Alert: April Highlights

Four of Peter Jackson’s movies and Niki Caro’s fourth feature are among next month’s Blu-ray highlights.

Jackson’s The Lovely Bones will be released in HD on April 30, nine days after The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King.

Caro’s The Vintner’s Luck will come out on Blu-ray first, on April 7, the same day as The Time Traveller’s Wife, Where the Wild Things Are, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Planet 51, The Informant, Shorts, Mary and Max, $9.99, Looking for Eric, and seasons two of Chuck and eight of Smallville.

They will be preceded by The Invention of Lying, on April 1, and followed by Twilight: New Moon, Terry Factor: Live From Las Vegas and The Open Road, on April 14.

The next day will see Vexille, Dogs in Space and Withnail & I bow on Blu-ray.

Towards the end of the month, watch for: The Red Baron, Blood and Bone (rental only), The Notebook, The Number 23, Shoot ‘Em Up, and Saw III and VI (April 21); Franklyn, Sleepwalking and Three Kingdoms (April 28); and Away We Go and Paranormal Activity (April 30).
