Blu-Ray Alert: Sony’s Best Buys in June
Next month Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will thrill Blu-ray bargain-hunters with the cheapest back-catalogue re-issue yet.
Robin Williams’ 1995 jungle game board romp, Jumanji, will be discounted to $10 for a promotional campaign running from June 2-July 31.
The price drop highlights the growing maturity of the Blu-ray market and the deepening of back catalogues as distributors seek to maximise the appeal of HD titles released two-to-three years ago.
Over the same period, The 6th Day, CJ7, Click, The Covenant, Gothika, Hollow Man, Jerry Maguire, Reign Over Me, St Trinian’s and Monster House will be reduced to $20.
Also being temporarily “re-priced”, to $25, are Cadillac Records, The International, Lakeview Terrace, Paul Blart: Mall Cop and Punisher: The War Zone; and to $35, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Moon and Planet 51.
June also will see Sony add to its Blu-ray back catalogue The Craft, The Mask of Zorro and Snatch, for $35 each.
