Blu-ray Alert: Sony’s Best Buys in May

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is making Julie & Julia cheaper and cheaper on Blu-ray.

Only two months after releasing the HD edition of the movie that earned Meryl Streep her 16th Oscar nomination, SPHE will temporarily discount it by $20, for an under-$30 campaign that will run from May 3-31 and include The Taking of Pelham 123, District 9 and The Year One.

Over the same period you’ll be able to buy for under $25: Gandhi, the Underworld movies, Welcome to the Jungle, Ultraviolet, District 9, Starship Troopers 3: Marauder, Surf’s Up, Spider-Man 3, The Waterhorse, Final Fantasy: Spirits Within, Black Hawk Down, Ghost Rider, Hellboy, Hancock, Casino Royale, The Forbidden Kingdom and Twilight.

Among the older Blu-ray titles being re-promoted for under $20 are: The Devil’s Own, Blue Streak, Warriors of Heaven and Earth, Half Past Dead, Identity, Big Fish, Gridiron gang, The Wicker Man, Prom Night, First Knight, My Best Friend’s Wedding, 50 First Dates, Hitch, Catch and Release, The Pursuit of Happyness and Across the Universe.

While these campaigns are temporary, not so the new pricing of $29.99 for Crank, Crank: High Voltage and Angels & Demons, which applies from May 1.
