Blu-ray Update: Avatar, Iron Man 2, Gladiator Remastered
Roadshow Entertainment has just released the official NZ art for the Blu-ray of Avatar: Extended Collector’s Edition.
It will retail for $80; the price of the Fan Pack has still to be finalised.
The November 24 release is part of what I’ve described as a “ferociously competitive” fourth quarter for distributors and retailers in an Onfilm article about Iron Man 2 being Paramount’s first Triple Play (Blu-ray/DVD/digital copy) release in NZ.
Lined up between now and Christmas are: Toy Story 3, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Shrek Forever, Inception, How to Train Your Dragon, The Karate Kid, The A-Team, Get Him to the Greek, Knight and Day, Sex & the City 2,The Girl Who Played With Fire, the HBO miniseries, The Pacific, the final season of Lost and the first of V, anniversary editions of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Sound of Music, the lavish Alien Anthology box set, and probably a special edition of the top-selling Boy.
Meanwhile, Universal Pictures in NZ and Australia is offering to exchange copies of its original Gladiator Blu-ray disc for a remastered version free of the artefacts that incurred the wrath of fans and critics.
ScreenScribe.tv hasn’t been able to officially confirm this with Universal locally but the following information has been posted at The Digital Bits.
The advice is to send only the movie disc (Disc One) and a return address to:
Attn: Jesse Joseph, Universal Pictures, PO Box 617, Shortland Street, Auckland 1140.
Keep your original packaging. Universal will send you a replacement Disc One with the new transfer in about a month.
The address in Australia is:
Universal Pictures Australia, Gladiator Exchange, PO Box 17, Millers Point NSW 2000.
