Can Boy Band Point TVNZ 2 in Right Direction?
TVNZ 2 is pulling Car Crash Global from its Friday schedule and replacing it with Boy Band two days ahead of Three relaunching The Block NZ (above).
Boy Band will screen 9.00 Fridays from June 23, within 24 hours of its US premiere on ABC.
The 10-episode series will track young male vocalists vying to prove they have what it takes to join America’s next great boy band, which will earn a recording contract with Hollywood Records.
British singer-actor Rita Ora will host the One Direction-wannabes quest that will air here back-to-back with The Voice Australia.
TVNZ 2’s sudden rescheduling follows Three crushing the competition on Friday, with The Graham Norton Show, 7 Days and Fail Army winning in all the key demographics.
Last Monday Chicago Med also won its timeslot across all four core demos on as did SVU on Tuesday, with lead-in NCIS topping 25-54 year-olds and household shoppers with kids.
While Three will lose Chicago Med at the end of the month, it does have NCIS: Los Angeles returning shortly and will be stripping The Block NZ, in which the contestants will renovate the biggest houses in the show’s history on Auckland’s North Shore, from Sunday-Wednesday.
The latter initially will square off against TVNZ 2’s Survivor NZ on Sunday nights, and then is expected to face newcomer Little Big Shots, an America’s Got Talent for tykes that’s just ended its second season on NBC.
Typical of the precocious talent you can expect to see on the series are the premiere’s contestants: A four-year-old basketball phenomenon, a five-year-old karate maven, a singing duo and a spelling-bee champ.

Sounds like TVNZ are heading for desperation straits, hope they have got lifeboats handy 🙂
Well, it’s newer, it’s fresher, it’s way better than having rubbish like we always have, repeats that we do not need and what about Adam and Eve, Judge Rinder, Jeremy Kyle and The Big Bang Theory — we need fresher content, so give Boy Band newer partners.
Trevor, well done on your post. I’ll be corresponding with this when I’ll be working, as from tomorrow this will be giving me good work to do.
