Celebs Chase Aussie Couples

The return of The Celebrity Chase helped TVNZ 1 to narrow the 25-54 gap with Three’s Married at First Sight Australia on Wednesday —  but the reality juggernaut still coasted to an easy victory.

TCC posted a 25-54 share of 23.7 (78,903 viewers) and an 18-49 share of 23.5 (60,036) vs 29.6 (94,271) and 30.1 (73,947) for MAFS.

TVNZ 2’s Travel Guides Australia recorded respective shares of 14.2 (47,068) and 12.5 (31,923) in the core commercial demographics.

MAFS enjoyed a wide 25-54 lead over TCC, by as much as 7.5 share points at one stage (and nearly 18 points over Travel Guides).

But TCC still proved a more competitive option than the previous night’s SPCA Rescue and Barkley Manor and the previous week’s Celebrity Lingo.

Location Location Location proved a sturdy lead-out at 8.30, with a 25-54 share of 17.7 (45,378) and 18-49 share of 16.2 (32,151) vs 15.8 (42,104) and 15.6 (32,275) for TVNZ 2’s 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

Both benefitted from the switchover from MAFS to Faking It, which averaged a 25-54 share of 12.6 (27,655) and 18-49 share of 15.0 (25,586).

TVNZ 2 dominated from 9.30 in both key demos with Naked Attraction beating TVNZ 1’s Coronation Street and Three’s Newshub Late while being competitive with Faking It.

The big winner for Prime was its NBL Basketball coverage, with the NZ-Sydney game posting a 25-54 share of 11.2 and an 18-49 share of 12.8.

Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.
