Classics Due on Blu-ray
Yahoo! Some iconic Westerns are about to be rounded up here on Blu-ray.
NZ release dates haven’t been confirmed yet but expect to see within the next couple of months The Magnificent Seven (and its three sequels), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, For a Few Dollars More and A Fistful of Dollars.
They’re due to go on sale across the Tasman in July and should land here in August, just in time for a Father’s Day promotion.
Still no word on when Silverado will be released on Blu-ray here — it’s been out in the UK and the US for months — and while Criterion’s US-only HD transfer of Stagecoach has drawn mixed reviews, the extras appear to be top-notch.
Watch also for a bunch of 20th Century Fox classics to bow mid-year on Blu-ray, as part of the studio’s 75th anniversary celebrations.
Lined up are Patton, Raging Bull, double-bills of The French Connection I & II, and Romancing the Stone and The Jewel of the Nile, and re-packaged X-Men and Die Hard Quadrilogies.
