Coming Soon to Disney+

Disney+ will stream from April 19 BAFTA- and Oscar-nominee Empire of Light.

Directed by Sam Mendes, it’s set in and around a faded old cinema in an English coastal town in the early 1980s.

Hilary (Olivia Colman) is the cinema manager struggling with her mental health while Stephen (Micheal Ward) is a new employee who longs to escape this provincial town in which he faces daily adversity.

Both Hilary and Stephen find a sense of belonging through their unlikely and tender relationship and come to experience the healing power of music, cinema, and community.

Colin Firth and Toby Jones co-star.

The next day Disney+ will premiere Quasi, a movie about the hapless hunchback who yearns for love, but finds himself in the middle of a murderous feud between the Pope and the King of France, when each orders the hunchback to kill the other.

From the team behind Super Troopers 1 & 2 and Beerfest, it stars Kevin Heffernan (who also wrote and directed), Adrianne Palicki, Steve Lemme, Jay Chandrasekhar, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske.

Disney+ also will stream original series The Muppets Mayhem from May 10, when all episodes will premiere.

It follows The Electric Mayhem Band — Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone and Lips on trumpet — on an epic, music-filled journey to record their first-ever studio album.

With the help of a driven young music executive, Nora Singh (Lilly Singh), the old-school Muppet band comes face-to-face with the current day music scene as they try to finally record their first studio album.

And on April 13 Disney+ will premiere Til Death Do Us Part Kourtney & Travis, billed as “an inside look at the wedding of the year” — a flash bash in Portofino, Italy where Kourtney Kardashian Barker and Travis Barker gather with the rest of the clan, including Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner.

It will be the curtain-raiser for season three of The Kardashians, which is due on May 25.

Also out is the official trailer for the June 21 premiere of Marvel Studios’ new series, Secret Invasion.

It’s set set in the present day MCU, when Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls.

He joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth, to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.

Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott, Samuel Adewunmi, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher McDonald, Katie Finneran, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman and Don Cheadle star.

I wonder if Disney have got anymore surprise shows like The Americans. Still waiting for Zorro 🤔

  2. And The Invaders!

  3. On yes, I forgot about The Invaders. I would love to see more older shows as well like Married With Children 😂

  4. I don’t think you’ll see MWC on Disney+, Trevor. It’s a Sony show, so could be licensed for the service, like it is on Hulu in the US, but it isn’t a Disney property.

  5. I thought it was a show from 20th Century Fox, I’m sure I read that somewhere, oh well 😁

  6. It originally aired on Fox TV in the US, Trevor, but was distributed here by Sony.
