Containment Breaks Out on TV2
Containment is the latest series to air on TV2 only hours after its US broadcast.
The Warner Bros thriller will screen 9.30 Wednesdays from April 20, virtually the same day as its premiere on The CW Network.
Based on a Belgian series of the same name, it concerns the quarantining of part of Atlanta when a mysterious epidemic that kills within 48 hours breaks out.
Deadline Hollywood quotes showrunner Julie Plec (The Originals) as saying some changes were made in the adaptation.
“While the original series’ Patient Zero was from Afghanistan, ‘I thought that with Syria bubbling in the news, and ISIS, it felt like a more topical show’ to reflect current events.”
But she doesn’t think it will be controversial: “It’s a mystery, and more about how we, as Americans, are quick to jump to conclusions, and prey on fear, without having information.”
Each of the 13 episodes will focus on a “day in the life” of each character, which is why Entertainment Weekly dubs it “both a horror movie and a character drama“.
The cast includes David Gyasi (Interstellar), Chris Wood (The Vampire Diaries), Claudia Black (The Originals) and Hanna Mangan Lawrence (Spartacus: War of the Damned).
