Country Calendar Tops Pecking Order
Hyundai Country Calendar might be long-in-the-tooth but Sunday’s broadcast shows why it’s not ready to be put out to pasture.
The TVNZ 1 broadcast about an East Coast wool-broking family was the most watched show of the night in the core 25-54 year-old demographic.
It averaged 8.47% of this audience to deliver a 43.21 share of 173,921 viewers, beating even lead-in 1 News at 6pm (8.47 rating/43.21 share, 161,134 viewers).
The third highest-rating crowdpleaser in this demo was The Chase (5.76 rating/43.31 share), followed by Sunday (5.45 rating/28.20 share).
The only non-TVNZ 1 staple to crack the top five was Three’s Newshub Live at 6pm (4.88 rating/25.7 share).
TVNZ 2’s MasterChef Australia (3.11 rating/13.61 share) placed sixth, out-rating Three’s Lego Masters (2.68 rating/14.46 share).
But Three’s movie was more popular in the 25-54 race than TVNZ 2’s: Sherlock Holmes averaged a 2.52 rating/21.98 share vs a 1.51 rating/10.60 share for Bad Neighbours 2.
Both were beaten by TVNZ 1’s Grand Designs Revisited (2.88 rating/18.73 share).
TVNZ 1 programmers also would have been relieved to see local drama The Gone resurface in its top 10 for the night after last week slipping off the list.
It averaged a 1.34 rating/10.90 share to finish the eighth-most watched show of the day on TVNZ 1 and the 13th most-watched overall.
