CTI Winner a Castaways First

Celebrity Treasure Island ended its run Wednesday with an historic win by social media entrepreneur Nix Adams.
Here’s the media release:
NIX ADAMS MAKES HISTORY AS SHE WINS CELEBRITY TREASURE ISLAND |
Nix Adams has made Celebrity Treasure Island history, becoming the first Māori woman to win the hit series. Content creator, businesswoman, and social media powerhouse, Nix has taken out the ultimate treasure hunt, walking away from the stunning Northland shores with the $100,000 prize for her chosen charity, Child Abuse Prevention Foundation. After 15 days of brutal challenges, sleepless nights, strategic gameplay and surviving her ultimate nightmare – sand – Nix outlasted 15 fellow Kiwi celebrities to claim the prestigious title. Remaining fiercely loyal to ‘The Tiddy Committee’ female alliance, and true to her unfiltered self, Nix advanced to the final treasure hunt alongside actor Liv Parker and content creator Louis Davis. “I had zero confidence but an abundance of determination,” says Nix. “It was terrifying going up against Liv and Louis and I felt so out of my depth. “But all I had was the determination to not give up and I’m grateful that was enough. “Digging up the treasure was so overwhelming. I was filled with so much emotion I was speechless, and that NEVER happens.” Nix’s historic win also marks the first time a woman has taken out the title in the show’s modern era across the last seven seasons. Alongside the grand prize, Nix secured an additional $5,000 during a charity challenge, bringing her total donation to an incredible $105,000. “Winning the money for my charity, for the children of this country was a feeling I will never forget. In an instant I knew it could potentially change the course for so many of our children.” This season of Celebrity Treasure Island was only made possible thanks to the much-appreciated support of NZ On Air. |
