Daytime Emmerdale Beats Primetime Coro

The networks’ primetime ratings decline is exemplified by a signature soap like Coronation Street drawing fewer viewers in the key commercial demographic than daytime shows like Emmerdale and Mike & Molly.

Do we think Coronation St might go to being a day-time only show soon? Surely – even if the ratings were good enough to beat Three in the demo – they aren’t sustainable long term.

  2. I reckon because TVNZ 1 would be able to free up more shows in primetime by moving Coronation Street to daytime alongside Emmerdale. Hollyoaks discontinued at the start of this year and it has been replaced by Millionaire Hot Seat which TVNZ got back the rights after Three dropped the series last year.
