Denon Among First to Offer AirPlay on A/V Gear
Denon today announced an upgrade for owners of its AVRA100, AVR-3311 and AVR-4311 receivers and the soon-to-be-released D-N7 multimedia system that supports Apple’s new AirPlay streaming audio system.
This makes Denon one of the first brands with this capability, which enables wireless streaming of music from iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches.
Denon owners also can use the Apple Remote app to control their iTunes library and stream audio from their Mac or PC.
The AirPlay release from Apple requires the latest iOS 4.2 and iTunes 10.1. As well as streaming digital audio, it sends the metadata to enable display of artist and song info, and album art.
Multiple AirPlay devices can be used throughout the home for multi-room audio.
The upgrade is via direct download, using the Ethernet connection on these Denon models, for a charge of $60.
