Designs Not the Grand Winner
The return of TVNZ 1’s Grand Designs UK on Sunday was overshadowed by Three’s movie John Wick in the core commercial demographics.
The latter averaged nearly 63,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo (28.6 share) and 46,552 in the 18-49 demo (29.2 share) — which was more than John Wick Chapter 3 managed the previous Sunday on TVNZ 2.
Grand Designs scored 56,093 25-54 year-olds (21.7 share) and 41,653 18-49s (21.4 share).
The previous Sunday, the season final of Under the Vines averaged respective shares of 16.7 (48,338) and 16.6 (32,709).
TVNZ 2’s Wanted finished a distant third, with just 16,247 in the 25-54 demo (7.3 share) and 9,674 in the 18-49 demo (6.1 share).
John Wick benefitted from a massive lead-in from Married at First Sight Australia, which averaged more than 110,000 25-54 viewers and nearly 90,000 in the 18-49 demo.
TVNZ 1’s Hyundai Country Calendar had the edge on it among 25-54s but MAFS dominated with 18-49s.
At 7.30, TVNZ 1’s Sunday drew roughly twice as many key demo viewers as TVNZ 2’s Kings of Pain but was still dwarfed by MAFS.
Eden’s 8.30 movie First Man averaged a 1.2 share of 25-54s and Whakaata Māori’s My Life as a Zucchini 0.6 while Prime’s The White Lotus averaged a 3.4 share of this demo and lead-out Yellowjackets 2.7.
