In case you missed it, the deal was announced yesterday.
Here’s the media release:
Sky and Disney+ collaborate to offer an exclusive deal for Sky Broadband customers
9 June 2021
Sky has today announced a collaboration with Disney+ that will provide Sky Broadband customers in New Zealand with a 12 month Disney+ subscription to the global entertainment streaming platform.
From 9 June 2021, Sky is offering eligible customers that sign up for any Sky Broadband plan, a 12 month subscription to Disney+; the dedicated streaming home for Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and the recently launched Star brand.
The Disney+ offer will complement the great range of sport and entertainment Sky Broadband customers can access through a Sky TV subscription.
Sky Chief Executive Sophie Moloney says, “We’re excited to bring even more value to our broadband customers by giving them 12 months of Disney+ on us, as we continue to partner with the world’s biggest entertainment companies to provide the best content for our customers.”
“This is what Sky Broadband is all about – broadband made for entertainment. Customers can experience unlimited lightning fast Sky Broadband and enjoy some of the greatest stories and exclusive originals from Disney+ on us for 12 months, alongside all of the great Sky content that they already enjoy.”
Kylie Watson-Wheeler, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, The Walt Disney Company Australia & New Zealand said, “We are thrilled that Sky will provide their Broadband customers with the world’s greatest stories from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, National Geographic and now Star on Disney+, offering exciting and engaging content for everyone in the household.”
Disney+ will consistently deliver new and noteworthy content to Sky Broadband customers who take up this offer, such as Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon (available to all Disney+ subscribers from June 4), Marvel Studios’ Loki (new Original Series streaming June 9), plus Disney and Pixar’s Original Movie Luca (streaming June 18).
Disney+ also offers an extensive range of fan favourites, including Disney’s Moana, Star Wars: The Mandalorian, Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Star’s Bob’s Burgers, and National Geographic’s Free Solo – all now streaming.
The offer will be available to any eligible customer who signs up to Sky Broadband before 31 May 2022, and is a new or returning Disney+ subscriber. They will have until 30 November 2022 to retrieve the code from Sky, and until 31 December 2022 to redeem the code with Disney+.
All customers that have previously signed up to Sky Broadband will also be offered the 12 month Disney+ subscription and will be contacted by Sky.

I wonder if it’s because of the possibility of Paramount+ coming to New Zealand especially if they have got the rights to the A-League like they have in Australia 🙂
