Doomsday Looms for The Zone’s Cinema Z

The end is ‘nigh for The Zone’s Cinema Z slot.

The shlock-horror movie showcase winds up its 2017 run next month with a 2008 direct-to-DVD variation on Journey to the Center of the Earth starring Greg Evigan (My Two Dads, BJ and the Bear) and Michelle Pfeiffer’s sister, Dedee.

“Asylum’s version owes next to nothing to its source material or the Brendan Fraser movie – more a mishmash of The Core and another recent (and surprisingly decent) Asylum film, 100 Million BC,” Dread Central said.

Asylum’s also behind another of next month’s mockbusters, Transmorphers 2.

Said High-Def Digest of the Blu-ray release: “There are so many things wrong with Transmorphers: Fall of Man that it could easily double for a drinking game, where a shot is downed with every obvious failure. Sadly, any participant would die from alcohol poisoning.”

Love Asylum mockbusters when I want to watch something that I don’t have to think about …
