Double-barreling Breaking Bad Blu-ray Bound

Breaking Bad diehards can buy the entire series on Blu-ray when the 16-disc set goes on sale here for $289.98 on November 27 — the same day as in the US.

It will coincide with the release of The Final Season on Blu-ray as well ($48.98).

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is offering the “Blu-ray barrel” exclusively through JB Hi-Fi, complete with all 62 episodes, more than 55 hours of special features and two hours of new documentary footage.

For fans who buy locally, this should be their first chance to see the fourth season release intact with the commentaries that were left off its NZ and Australian distribution, although SPHE has yet to confirm this.

The box set also contains a Los Pollos Hermanos apron, a collectible booklet and a commemorative Breaking Bad challenge coin designed by creator Vince Gilligan as “a token of appreciation to fans for making the Breaking Bad journey”.

SPHE says only a limited quantity of this collector’s edition will be offered in NZ. Fans can pre-order their set at

Meanwhile, Deadline Hollywood reports US networks were “ambushed” by the hype surrounding this week’s Breaking Bad finale and the record-breaking 10.3 million viewers it drew while Variety says it generated 500,000 illegal downloads in 12 hours.
