Due on Blu: Disney Classics
April’s shaping up to be a thumping good month for ‘toon fans.
Blu-rays of three Walt Disney classics and the two Tron movies will be released on April 6 and April 20.
First up is a Diamond Edition of Bambi, with The Incredibles, A Bug’s Life, Tron and Tron: Legacy to follow two weeks later.
Bambi and Tron: Legacy will retail for $50 each, and The Incredibles, A Bug’s Life and Tron for $35 each.
Bambi has just been released to five-star acclaim for its HD specs in the US.
High-Def Digest called it ”simply stunning”, Home Theater Forum “pristine” and The Cinema Laser, a “stunning revelation that highlights all the visual beauty of this animated masterpiece”.
A Bug’s Life, which was released nearly two years ago in the US, was similarly hailed — AV Forums thought it “quite flawless in its presentation” — while reviews of either Tron movie or The Incredibles have yet to be posted.
In the US, a Blu-ray 3D of Tron: Legacy will be released but Disney’s NZ distributor, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, appears to be offering only a 2D version locally.
Americans also will be able to opt for a Limited Edition Ultimate Tron Experience with both Tron movies and special Identity Disc packaging.
