Due on Blu: Fox Classics

Even in space, Alien fans can be heard screaming with joy.

Roadshow Entertainment, which distributes 20th Century Fox Blu-rays, doesn’t yet have an official NZ release date for Alien Anthology.

But according to a Fox press statement in the US, the six-disc compilation will go on sale internationally on October 25, just in time for Halloween.

The set combines all four Alien movies with, for the first time, every extra that’s ever been on a home video release (including laser disc), along with new material and an unseen original cut of David Fincher’s Alien 3.

The HD benchmark is one of a raft of modern classics Fox is sprucing up on Blu-ray to mark the studio’s 75th birthday. Also watch for The Last of the Mohicans: Director’s Definitive Cut, Moulin Rouge, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Romeo + Juliet, and The Sound of Music.

Meanwhile, on August 25 Roadshow will release a slew of classics on Blu-ray: The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Die Hard Quadrilogy, A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The French Connection I & II, The Jewel of the Nile (and in a double-pack with Romancing the Stone), The Magnificent Seven (and in a box set with its three sequels), Patton and Raging Bull.

Also out on Blu-ray, on August 11, will be the original Underbelly, and two weeks later re-makes of Walking Tall and The Thomas Crown Affair.
