Due on Blu: January

It’s shaping up to be a Happy New Year for fans of TV shows, back-catalogue classics and 3D ‘toons on Blu-ray.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Harry Brown, Despicable Me and The Last Airbender may top next month’s marquee attractions in HD.

But January’s more notable for the number of TV-on-Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray releases.

Despicable Me will come in a 3D version, along with Cats & Dogs 2: The Revenge of Kitty Galore and a re-release of Coraline — although the pick of the ‘toons will be the belated 2D landing of A Bug’s Life.

Other back-catalogue collectibles will include Showgirls, The Evil Dead and The Twilight Zone: Original Series – Season 1.

Sci-fi fans also will relish being able to view Doctor Who: Complete Series 5 and Stargate Universe: Season 1 in HD while among next month’s TV docos on Blu-ray will be Richard Hammond’s Invisible Worlds, Last Chance to See, Deadliest Catch: The Complete Sixth Season, Prehistoric, Last Day of the Dinosaur and Clash of the Dinosaurs.

January 12 – The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Harry Brown, Open Season 3, A Bug’s Life, Showgirls, The Evil Dead, The Maiden Heist, Kill Speed, Nine Miles Down & Knife Edge, Richard Hammond’s Invisible Worlds, Doctor Who: Complete Series 5, Stargate Universe: Season 1.

January 13 – Despicable Me 3D, Coraline 3D, Noise, Splice, Last Chance to See, Deadliest Catch: The Complete Sixth Season, Prehistoric, Last Day of the Dinosaur, Clash of the Dinosaurs, Metalocalypse, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu Collection, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Ong Bak 2: The Beginning.

January 17 – The Twilight Zone: Original Series – Season 1, WWE Bragging Rights 2010.

January 19 – Vampires Suck, Leaves of Grass, Cats & Dogs 2: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, Grown Ups, The Runaways.

January 20 – Charlie St Cloud, The Last Airbender.

January 24 – State of Grace, Barfly.

January 26 – Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Centurion.
