Due on Blu: Robin Hood

Russell Crowe and Sherwood Forest fans will be all aquiver to learn the Blu-ray of Robin Hood will be released on September 22.

There will be a single-disc Blu-ray, with both the theatrical and director’s cuts, and an “epic” two-disc edition with both cuts as well as more extensive extras, including deleted scenes with an introduction and commentary by editor Pietro Scalia, the Rise and Rise Again: Making Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood documentary (which explores pre-production, production and post-production), a “marketing archive”, an interactive Director’s Notebook and The Art of Nottingham.

Universal also will release a double-bill of Robin Hood and Crowe’s first collaboration with Scott, Gladiator, but it’s not clear if this will be the remastered version of the Oscar-winning blockbuster that’s just been released in the US.

Meanwhile, Home Cinema Choice has reported Robin of Sherwood: Michael Praed will be released on Blu-ray in the UK in October.

It will comprise new high definition transfers of the first 13 episodes of the ’80s cult British fantasy series, an exclusive documentary on the making of the show, and a behind-the-scenes look at the series in HD.

You can also buy on Blu-ray the 2006 Robin Hood series Prime airs but only from US or UK retailers.
