Duke Goes HD on Sky

Sky today informed subscribers that Duke will be upgraded to HD from Wednesday.
In an email to customers, it says series linked Duke programmes would have to be deleted and rebooked.
To reinstate booked and series linked programmes please follow these steps using your My Sky remote control.
On 18 September (or as soon as possible thereafter), make a list of programmes on TVNZ Duke that are future booked or series linked in your planner.
Delete those programmes from the planner. You do not need to delete previous recordings. Add the list of programmes back into your planner and by using the green button reinstate series link.
Duke is the latest channel to be offered in HD. It follows Vibe and Sky 5 going HD a few months ago and goes live the same day that Rialto Channel starts transmitting in 1080i.
Like Rialto, Duke will be in 1920 x 1080i whereas the other entertainment channels are only 1440 x 1080i.

I see Discovery (and others) have been overlooked for Sky’s to flick the HD switch …
Hopefully Sky reciprocate and make Prime HD on Freeview.

Hi Phil. Sorry to potentially mislead, I was trying to make the point that channels worthy of HD treatment have been overlooked (like Discovery) in favour of Duke. Unless of course Sky ARE upgrading Discovery … but I doubt it! In answer to Aaron, Prime in HD is again, long overdue!
I guess the last reason to keep my TiVo going has gone with Sky’s upgrade of Duke to HD.
I actually wired up my TV to Freeview as TVNZ Duke wasn’t HD, specifically for the RWC. I did not see Duke coming HD at all as Sky TV has always blamed TVNZ for not broadcasting HD on satellite.
Chris, don’t you have to pay to see TV1/2/3/Prime in HD via satellite? Why should Duke be any different? It’s probably who was willing to pay for the HD feed to the satellite as TVNZ clearly feed the DVB-T in HD so the source material is there. Don’t you think its more likely that TVNZ wants to have national HD coverage (Freeview via DVB-T, Sky via DVB-S) ahead of the RWC in case Spark Sport has a Floptus?
I also want to point out that TVNZ also blamed Sky TV so both companies blamed each other. So it was confusing who was telling the truth. Mike: I don’t know the answer to that. You better ask TVNZ and Sky TV for that one.
