Family Feud Tops Family Food
Three’s All Star Family Feud special proved more tempting than TVNZ 2’s season premiere of My Kitchen Rules NZ on Monday.
Jono & Ben vs 7 Days: The Rematch overcame a formidable handicap — beginning midway through the final “winter season” episode of Shortland Street — to beat the opening half-hour of the reformatted MKRNZ in the four core commercial demographics.
It averaged 7.8% of 25-54, 6.7% of 18-49, 6.6% of 18-39 and 9.4% of household shoppers with kids.
MKRNZ’s respective averages were 7.0%, 5.9%, 4.4% and 6.1% — and that was off Shortland Street’s 8.8% – 10.3%.
But as soon as SS ended, viewers switched channels to FF before deserting Tin Star for the second half of MKRNZ.
The crime drama averaged only 3.3% of 25-54 and was beaten even by TVNZ 2’s 20-year-old re-run of the Will & Grace pilot (as a curtain-raiser to next week’s premiere of the revival).
TVNZ 1’s season premiere of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders won the 9.30 hour in the 25-54 demo but lost to Three’s Blue Bloods in the 18-49 and 18-39 stakes while TVNZ 2’s Love Island was tops with HHS.
TVNZ 2 won the night in all the key demos and Three was ahead of TVNZ 1 in all but the 25-54 race, where they finished in a dead heat.
