Far North Due Next Month

A new WBD co-production starring two Kiwi screen vets will premiere on Three and ThreeNow in August.

Far North reunites Robyn Malcolm with screenwriter David White after they collaborated on his 2020 movie, This Town, which led the NZ box office for three weeks in a row.

Here’s the media release:

Far North: Coming to ThreeNow & Three in August

Starring New Zealand acting icons Robyn Malcolm (Outrageous Fortune, Black Bird) and Temuera Morrison (Once Were Warriors, Aquaman) along with a talented and diverse ensemble cast, Far North is a six-part premium drama series telling the (mostly) true story of how the most comically inept gang to ever join forces got half a billion dollars’ worth of meth to New Zealand shores – and nearly to market.

And they would have got away with it too, if it wasn’t for a pesky 70-year-old diesel mechanic (Morrison) and his aqua-aerobics instructing wife (Malcolm).

In the series opener, ordinary Kiwi couple Ed and Heather have no idea their lives are about to change when strangers arrive in the Far North.

Meanwhile, a ship sets out from Hong Kong, carrying precious cargo and a Tongan-Australian gang land in Aotearoa for a once in a lifetime drug deal.

Far North is produced by White Balance Pictures and South Pacific Pictures for Sundance Now, Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ and All3Media in association with New Zealand Government’s Te Puna Kairangi Premium Productions for International Audiences Fund and NZ On Air.
