Game On For SoHo Must-Sees

Winter is coming — and SoHo’s April highlights will make the transition a treat.

As well as the season-six premiere of Game of Thrones, the premium drama channel will screen new episodes of Banshee, Fear the Walking Dead, Bates Motel, Orphan Black, Silicon Valley, Veep and The Tunnel: Sabotage.

Game of Thrones again will be simulcast with HBO, at 1pm on Mondays, ahead of its 8.30 berth, while most of the rest will screen within days of their US broadcast.

The glaring exception is Bates Motel, which will suffer an inexcusable six-week lag between its US and NZ instalments.

That’s especially frustrating given this will be the penultimate season and the one in which Norman finally goes “full Psycho“.

Why we’ve had to wait so long for the season four premiere is puzzling given the high number of repeats SoHo has been running in its 8.30 and 9.30 slots this month.

Most of these dramas’ prior seasons are being released on Blu-ray this month and next, including Game of Thrones (March 16), Banshee (April 6), Silicon Valley (April 20) and Fear the Walking Dead (out now).

Veep S4 will be DVD only but can be imported on Blu-ray while surprisingly only S1 of Bates Motel has been released here on disc.

SoHo has yet to disclose a premiere date for season two of The Tunnel, which also doesn’t go to air on Britain’s Sky Atlantic until next month.

Otherwise, the full slate of SoHo premieres in April is as follows:

Banshee: 8.30 Sundays from April 3

Fear the Walking Dead: 9.30 Mondays from April 11

Bates Motel: 9.30 Tuesdays from April 19

Orphan Black: 9.30 Thursdays from April 21

Game of Thrones: 8.30 Mondays from April 25 (1.00 HBO simulcast)

Silicon Valley: 8.30 Thursdays from April 28

Veep: 9.00 Thursdays from April 28

The Tunnel: Sabotage (TBA).
