Generation Kill Gets Earlier HD Tour of Duty
The Blu-ray of Generation Kill now will go on sale the day after it ends on TV One.
Marbecks, JB Hi-Fi, Whitcoulls and The Warehouse will be stocking it and the DVD from August 3, ahead of its wider release to other retailers on September 8.
This is the second time the DVD has been released in NZ — it had to be withdrawn from sale after TVNZ bought the Iraq War miniseries at the 11th hour — but this will be your first chance to view what The Dominion Post deservedly dubbed the best show on TV in HD (inexplicably, TVNZ opted for an SD version).
Generation Kill is one of an unprecedented number of series being released on Blu-ray over the next few months, with the latest confirmation being season 13 of The Simpsons in September.
Disappointingly, the highly decorated, 2008 miniseries, John Adams, isn’t among them. But at last the DVD of the Emmy-winner none of the NZ networks wanted to screen has been scheduled for late September. (Hopefully its Emmy-winning HBO stablemate, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, for which Anna Paquin was nominated, is nearing release, too.)
