Glee Gets Blu-ray Exclusives But FlashForward Fans’ HD Hopes Dashed
The Blu-ray of season one of Glee, which continues 8.30pm Fridays on TV3, will include an exclusive, cast-and-crew picture-in-picture commentary on the pilot.
But another, less popular HD series, TV2’s FlashForward, which ends its run on Wednesday, is to be released only on DVD.
Because the sci-fi series hasn’t been renewed, it seems ABC/Disney (Desperate Housewives) felt the waning drama didn’t justify a Blu-ray release.
There’s no word on when the DVD will be released here or the Blu-ray of Glee. But it will be interesting to see if Kiwis who bought the Volume 1 DVD release will receive a “Gleebate” — a $US10 rebate — to upgrade to the full-season DVD or Blu-ray, as the show’s American customers are being offered.
Meanwhile, Glee ended its US run this week with the highest ratings of the season for a new-series finale.
