Glee Jump Starts TV3’s New Season
TV3 will jump-start its 2011 season by launching several HD highlights before Christmas.
On November 5 Glee will return to its original 7.30pm Friday slot after the second half of season one fared less well at 8.30pm.
Also confirmed for next month is The Event, a stunning conspiracy thriller that’s cleverly and tautly told, while teased as a “this summer” attraction at this morning’s new-season launch was the “reboot” of Hawaii Five-O.
Programming chief Kelly Martin calls the ‘60s crime show update “the no-brainer of the year” and US critics have likened it to another NCIS.
Reviews ranged from “think Lethal Weapon with a tropical twist” (Boston Herald) to “TV at its least challenging” (USA Today).
The Event, meanwhile, has just been picked up for a full season, which is good news if you love the premiere.
As the Miami Herald aptly observed: “Neatly staged, with one surprise after another in a geometric progression of suspense, The Event’s pilot episode leaves a lot of tantalisingly unanswered questions.”
Early next year watch for season three of NZ’s Next Top Model while The X-Factor will shift Stateside for a US version fronted by Simon Cowell that will challenge American Idol’s talent quest supremacy.
