Good Wife, Better Ratings

TV3’s HD premieres of Die Hard 4 and The Good Wife helped it to win, for the first time, two nights of the new season back-to-back.

Tuesday’s launch of the Julianna Marguilles drama drew 8.7% of the network’s target audience, 18-49 year-olds, to score a 24.5% share of that demographic in the 9.30pm-10.30pm slot.

It retained most of House’s lead-in — 11.7 rating/33.4 share — although viewership of TV2’s movie, Flightplan, took off after House ended.

Indeed, its rating/share soared higher than The Good Wife’s but over the two hours averaged only an 8.3 rating/23.4 share.

The combination of House and The Good Wife, along with 3 News and Campbell Live out-rating One News and Close Up, was enough for TV3 to win the night with a peak demo share of 27, compared to TV2’s 25.9 and TV One’s 19.5.

Monday’s peak demo share win was narrower — 25.9 versus TV2’s 25.6 and TV One’s 22.7.

And while Die Hard 4 out-gunned TV One’s Band of Brothers — 10.4 rating/29.5 share versus 7.0 rating/17.6 share — it wound up a few points behind TV2’s Two Weeks’ Notice (10.4 rating/29.5 share versus 11.1 rating/29.0 share).
