Grand Designs NZ Grand Winner

The season premiere of TVNZ 1’s Grand Designs NZ rated through the roof on Tuesday.

It dominated the 7.30 hour with 125,454 viewers in the coveted 25-54 demographic.

It averaged a 5.69 rating/35.28 share vs a 3.07 rating/18.27 share for the penultimate episode of TVNZ 2’s Celebrity Treasure Island (62,995 viewers).

Three’s House Rules NZ averaged a 1.66 rating/22.46 share (34,169 viewers).

GDNZ lead-out Moving Houses Special clocked up 67,6129 viewers (3.29 rating/23.83 share) — nearly 15, 000 more than TVNZ 2’s NCIS: Hawai’i (2.58 rating/20.22 share) and twice as many 25-54 year-olds as Three’s Married at First Sight UK (1.65 rating/11.49 share).

TVNZ 1’s news hour rated highly with 190,530 adults, nearly 100,000 more than Three’s, while Seven Sharp drew 125,454 vs 84,420 for Three’s The Project and 70,216 for TVNZ 2’s Shortland Street.

TVNZ 1’s peak demo share was 38.00, Three’s 18.79 and TVNZ 2’s 15.12.

Over the long weekend, TVNZ 1’s Warnie miniseries scored just 33,406 adults on Sunday and 31,057 on Monday.

Part one still won its slot while part two lost to TVNZ 2’s Police Rescue Australia (53,002); MAFS UK mustered merely 12,698.

Monday’s most watched programmes in the 25-54 demo were 1 News (158,719), The Chase (86,536) and a re-run of The Chase Bloopers (85,753).
