HBO Max Resurrects The Mummy

The latest take on The Mummy will stream on HBO Max from July 3.

The Lee (Evil Dead Rise) Cronin-directed movie is named after a journalist’s daughter who disappears in the desert — only to return eight years laters when what should be a joyful family reunion turns into a living nightmare.

Critics weren’t impressed with Cronin’s reincarnation. Among the kinder observations was Empire’s: “A very distinct but rather uneven — and at times contentious — take on a classic monster icon.”

Jack Reynor and Lala Costa star.
