HBO Max Illuminates Lanterns

HBO Max today released the trailer for new DC Studios drama series Lanterns, which streams from August 17.

It was unveiled during a panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con, where Prime Video earlier dropped the trailer for Blade Runner 2099.

The series follows two intergalactic cops, new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), as they’re drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery with cosmic ties while investigating a murder in the American heartland.

Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Laura Linney, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, Nathan Fillion, J. Alphonse Nicholson and Jasmine Cephas Jones co-star.

Two of TV’s top showrunners, Chris Mundy (Ozark, True Detective) and Damon Lindelof (Watchmen, Lost), co-created the eight-part series with Tom King.
