Prime continues to frustrate Top Gear fans by screening a mix of re-runs and compilation specials ahead of the latest season going to air. There’s still no word on when it will start but on May 6 Prime will premiere Top Gear: The Races, in which Matt LeBlanc steers us through the most memorable racing moments from the first 21 series. It originally aired 15 months ago in the UK, US and Australia, as a curtain raiser to the BBC’s season 23 revamp of the motoring show. Prime bills All Change At Longleat (8.30 Wednesdays from May 10) as a “revealing new series about one of Britain’s most extraordinary aristocratic estates, as Lord Bath hands control of his £190 million estate, Longleat, over to his son”. But as The Telegraph complained: “The new generation of aristocrats is just far too normal to make good telly … Like lots of aristocrats these days, Lord Weymouth runs his estate as an efficient business, not a playpen for endless sexual pleasure. A documentary about him was like a documentary about Saffy in Absolutely Fabulous, when you really wanted one on Edina and Patsy” …
Rizzoli & Isles will return for another late-night run on May 12 — but on a new channel. The lighthearted crime show will switch from TVNZ 2 to TVNZ 1 for its penultimate sixth season while the network’s Criminal Minds spin-off, Beyond Borders, can be streamed on TVNZ OnDemand from May 8 …
TVNZ 2’s premiere of Kevin Can Wait on May 10 will face off against the most inspired All-Star Family Feud special yet: The Bachelor NZ vs Married At First Sight Australia (Three, 7.30). The same week, from 5.00 Monday, TVNZ 1 will screen weeknight episodes of The Celebrity Chase, with contestants like Sally Lindsay, Shaun Williamson, Barry McGuigan and Jenny Frost, comedian Jimmy Carr, Coronation Street’s Jennie McAlpine and Ian ‘H’ Watkins from Steps …
