HD Heads-Up: August 19-25
➢➢ The eccentricities of Prime’s scheduling continue — in a good way — with the peak-hour programming of the idiosyncratic HBO documentary series about Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, The Last Movie Stars, which airs 8.30 Tuesdays from August 21. It was universally praised in the US, where Rotten Tomatoes gushed: “The Last Movie Stars delivers the goods as a revealing retrospective of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward’s romance, but director Ethan Hawke elevates this docuseries into a revelatory exploration of marriage and stardom” …
➢➢ Bad Chefs (TVNZ 2, 10.45 Wednesday) is a “chaotic” ITV series about 10 takeaway junkies who learn to cook — kind of …

Is TVNZ 2 compelled to show The Voice USA through some rights deal? It just seems to be burned off in huge blocks on weekend afternoons.
Good news guys the FAST channels are now on ThreeNow. It’s quite a surprise seeing all of the channels compared to the normal 😁
Thanks for the update, Trevor.
Hi Phil, do FAST channels normally have listings prior to broadcast? Or are they more a case of viewing whatever happens to be on at the time? Asking out of ignorance.
They are indeed LIVE Trevor, is there a particular reason that HGTV is missing considering it does have a following when you look at the ratings posts.
It’s a very good question, Gerard. I have been asking WBD for a master list of shows that will screen on the channels but still waiting. You would think there would be at least an electronic programming guide, as you see on global FAST channel apps like Plex.
No problem Philip. I think the FAST channels have higher quality video than Three, the colours are certainly brighter on my TV 😁 I notice on my phone it includes the name of the show, also I see each channel includes a quiz about Warner Bros shows and movies including Harry Potter 🤔
Geekzone users report that they are 1920x1080p 30 fps at over 12mbits per stream vs TV3 livestream at 5 mbits.
Thanks, Mike, that is interesting to know.
I see Sky will be including the SoHo channel in their entertainment package. I don’t think Warner Bros. Discovery will be happy about that. Bring on MAX 😁
Yeah, interesting move from Sky – Entertainment = Soho goes from $25.50+9.99/mth to $28.50/mth. Essentially cutting prices (Movies has a price cut too) when Disney+ is hiking theirs by 27%.
