HD Heads-Up: December 25 – 31

➢➢ If you’re in a mood for a “deliciously dark” gaslighting thriller during a Christmas Week rife with festive froth, reality dross and re-runs, The Guardian recommends the six-part Close to Me (TVNZ 1, 9.00 Mondays from December 27). It stars Connie Nielsen as a recovering head injury victim who can’t remember the last year of her life: is her husband (Christopher Eccleston) really who he purports to be? But while The Guardian thought it “gratifyingly full of realistic grace notes,” The Telegraph reckoned “we’re into so-bad-it’s-good-territory” and Radio Times found it “predictable and far-fetched” …

➢➢ Christmas Week specials will include The Repair Shop (TVNZ 1, 7.00 Saturday), The Celebrity Chase (7.00 Wednesday) and Mrs Brown’s Boys: Mammy’s Mechanical Merriment (TVNZ 1, 9.00 Thursday). I heard that Neighbours is moving to TVNZ 1 from 10 January next year as programmers felt that is a older skewing soap which targets the same audience as Emmerdale, which makes it sense. The last episode on TVNZ 2 is tonight.

  2. What the source for this information and is there evidence to support it?

  3. Someone in a Twitter post confirmed the move alongside a picture shoot of a person that watches Neighbours when it is on TVNZ 2.

  4. Thanks, Sheldon. TVNZ has since confirmed.
