➢➢ Billy Connolly: Made in Scotland will liven up Sunday nights from July 28 (Prime, 8.30). The Daily Telegraph thought it “a nostalgic two-parter about the comedian’s colourful life …  that’s as much a celebration of Glasgow as of Billy” while the Independent said: “The comedian faces his own mortality, with a smile”. Ironically, the comic icon will face off against TVNZ 1’s history of Kiwi comedy …

➢➢ Connolly will follow another Prime premiere, Inside the Tower of London (7.30 Sundays from July 28) and lead into the 9.30 launch of Manson: The Lost Tapes (9.30). Created from more than 100 hour of footage, the latter goes inside Spahn’s ranch, where Manson lived with this followers …

➢➢ Said the Daily Mail: “This compelling documentary, the first of two, gave a unique insight into how a psychotic control freak could take possession of vulnerable people through hallucinogenic drugs and sexual abuse, and manipulate them for the rest of their lives” …

➢➢ TVNZ 2 is promoting 8 Our of 10 Cats Does Countdown to 8.30 Fridays from August 2. It will straddle Three’s top-rating Graham Norton Show and 7 Days and, for its relaunch in this slot, will follow a double-episode of The Simpsons

➢➢ Brainboxes is a new NZ On Air-funded series the chronicles the lives of six gifted children, aged from seven to 16, and how their brilliance impacts on family life and the education system (TVNZ 1, 8.30 Tuesdays from July 11) …

➢➢ The Price Of $ex is another NZOA-backed newcomer that promises to deliver  “a new, frank and enlightened way to talk about sex”. However, it’s not the advice show that it sounds, but a look at how sex contributes to society, culture and the economy  (TVNZ OnDemand, from August 1) …

➢➢ Mega Shippers explores how massive container ships dominate the world’s seas and examines the crews that man them (Duke, 8.30 Wednesdays from July 31) …
