HD Heads-Up: July 4-10
Westside spearheads a slew of season and series finales in the first full week of July.
It will end its six-week, high-rating run on July 4, three days ahead of the series’ release on DVD.
The same night TV2 will take on Westside lead-in Dancing With the Stars with a second weekly episode of The Voice Australia from 7.00-8.30.
Also exiting the schedules are TV2’s Scandal and The Originals, TV1’s Forever, and TV3’s NCIS: Los Angeles and Lost & Found.
Returning are Tabatha Takes Over, which TV2 will air 9.15 Mondays (Take Me Out, which launches in this slot on Monday will screen Fridays only), Surveillance Oz (TV2, 8.00 Thursday) and Age Gap Love (TV3, 9.30 Thursday).
TV1 also is bringing back The Following, but the third and final season, which premiered on TVNZ Ondemand, will screen off-peak: 11.00 Mondays.
TV2 will run out another series that’s lost its primetime lustre, Once Upon a Time, in double-episodes from July 8.
Other HD highlights include The ANZ Young Farmer Contest (TV1, 10.30 Saturday) and the launch of lifestyle hour Kiwi Living (TV1, 7.30 Friday).
TV2 will screen the network movie premieres of Olympus Has Fallen and The Possession back-to-back on Sunday; the rest of the week’s coming attractions in HD include The Shaggy Dog (TV2, 7.00 Saturday), 30 Minutes or Less (TV2, 11.15 Saturday), Warrior (TV2, 3.30am Sunday), Sound of My Voice (TV3, 10.25 Sunday) and Wanted (TV3, 8.45 Friday).

So TV2 will end the Once Upon a Time series run and so it looks like another series will slot in there and soon, so what will happen with the comedy run?
I imagine TV2 will revert to re-runs of The Big Bang Theory and 2 Broke Girls and, when My Kitchen Rules ends, resume first-run eps of Mom and Mike & Molly.
YAY, I see Heroes Reborn starts in the USA in September, I hope TV3 will screen it here at the same time … the new trailer looks really good 🙂
I’m sure they will, Trevor. The network’s short on signature drama, it’s the kind of shows that’s highly streamable/downloadable and the timing will suit TV3’s fourth-quarter scheduling strategy.
That’s good news, Philip, looks like it will be a darn good show 🙂
But will there be a new drama series at a later stage for primetime Wednesdays?
I would think so. The double-ep strategy should see Once Upon a Time end its run in the last week of July. TV2 has iZombie pencilled in for a 10.30 Wednesday run from August and appears to be holding the 9.30 slot for another, yet to be revealed drama.
But, Phil, its repeats are failing for these top -rating comedies and hey, we do have other shows that are waiting to go to air. So give some a fair go. Mom is great, Mike and Molly world class.
