TVNZ will stream season three of iZombie from April 5 even before season two has been scheduled on TVNZ 2. And while the TVNZ OnDemand streams will be “express from the US”, TVNZ 2 doesn’t even have a schedule date for the earlier season. Given it’s repeated S1, this is frustrating for fans of the show, which looks far better on air in HD than it does online. So it’s vaguely heartening that at least TVNZ 2 is committed to screening S2 later in the year. In S3, Liv (Kiwi Rose McIver) discovers there are more zombies living in Seattle than she previously believed, including a private military contractor who’s employed a zombie army that’s preparing for the day humans learn of their existence. …
TVNZ 2 and Three will go head-to-head with four free-to-air HD movie premieres on the weekend of April 1-2. In the 7.00 Saturday family movie slot, TVNZ 2’s Annie will square off against Three’s How to Train Your Dragon 2. And on Sunday night, Three’s Night At The Museum: Secret of the Tomb will get a half-hour head start on TVNZ 2’s San Adreas …

TVNZ 2 will premiere the series version of Rush Hour on April 4. It replaces The Last Ship in the 11.30 Tuesday slot. Even if another movie spin-off, Lethal Weapon, hadn’t tanked so quickly on the network, Rush Hour was always headed for late-night after poor ratings and reviews in the US. It went to air this time last year, when USA Today dismissed it as “a dispiriting, derivative buddy-cop comedy” and The Hollywood Reporter as “diluted and fairly charmless” ..
Also returning in the week starting April 1 are Aquarius (TVNZ 1, 10.35 Sunday), which veteran US critic Ken Tucker says takes “a daring leap” in season two, and Mythbusters (Prime, 7.30 Tuesday) while ending their runs are The Walking Dead, This Is Us, Vet Tales, Death in Paradise, Fishing Impossible and Skint. Here’s hoping Prime will replace Paradise with the long-delayed Planet Earth II and succeed Impossible with the latest Top Gear …

Aquarius has already been cancelled in the US so the “daring leap” in S2 was clearly a leap into the abyss for audiences.
But why put new Rush Hour TV series on so late at night? Give this series a chance earlier in primetime, just to see if it will rate. But if not, then try some thing some thing else.
