The week starting May 29 will see an unusual number of free-to-air HD movie premieres: In Darkness (TV One, 11.40 Saturday), Noah (TV3, 8.30 Sunday), Need for Speed (TV2, 8.45 Sunday), Deliver Us From Evil (TV2, 11.10 Sunday), Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (TV3, 8.30 Monday) and Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa (Prime, 9.30 Friday). Other coming attractions in HD that week will include: Ella Enchanted (TV2, 7.00 Saturday), The Tourist (TV2, 8.50 Saturday), The Cable Guy (TV2, 10.45 Saturday), Vertical Limit (TV3, 8.30 Wednesday) and Iron Man (TV2, 8.30 Friday) …
Prime will promote Prime Rocks: Soundbreaking to an earlier slot on May 31. The documentary series will swap slots with The People v OJ Simpsons, presumably because the latter is rating poorly. Soundbreaking will air 8.30 Tuesdays and The People, 9.35 Tuesdays. Meanwhile, Limitless is returning to Prime on a new night: it will air 8.30 Thursdays from June 2 …
The last Jeremy Clarkson-fronted Top Gear special to screen on the BBC will premiere on Prime on May 29. The bad news is the two-part special, Top Gear: The Perfect Road Trip, won’t be in HD, as it was licensed when Prime was still an SD broadcaster. But expect Chris Evans’ Top Gear to be in HD when it airs while Prime has confirmed that future series of another road trip staple, Antiques Roadshow, will be in HD …
Comings and goings: The season finale of NCIS will air on May 31 (TV3, 8.30) … 2 Broke Girls will return with a double-episode premiere on June 1 (TV2, 8.45) … Matt LeBlanc, Emilia Clarke, Kate Beckinsale, Dominic Cooper and Corinne Bailey Rae will guest on June 3’s Graham Norton Show (TV3, 8.30) …
