HD Heads-Up: September 14

➢ TVNZ 2 will use the new-look My Kitchen Rules NZ roll-out (September 25, 8.00) to whet viewers’ appetite for fresh fare that includes the Dynamo special, Live at the O2 (September 24, 7.00), the season 11 premiere of The Big Bang Theory (September 27, 8.40) and the launch of Travel Guides (September 28, 8.00), an Australian travel show with a twist: ordinary Aussies become travel critics …

➢ Quipped the Sydney Morning Herald: “Essentially, Travel Guides is a show for people who loved The Amazing Race but wished it would stop putting all that silly ‘competition’ stuff in and stick to showcasing spoilt Americans whining about the heat and the crowds and how nobody speaks English” …

➢ If Travel Guides sounds like a repeat, it’s because TVNZ 1 screened the British orig-inal earlier this year. Interestingly, TVNZ 2 will start it at 8.00 rather than 8.30, which is the common junction for hour-long shows — presumably to stop viewers from switching over to Three’s 8.30 movie, which has been rating well …

➢ The Inspector Morse spin-off Endeavour returns on September 23 (Prime, 8.30). But it’s not the latest series. Instead, the season will open with the premiere of series three, which went to air in the UK in January 2016. Meanwhile, TVNZ 1 will team season two of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders with its parent show from September 25 (9.30 Mondays)  …

➢ 60 Minutes on September 24 (Prime, 9.30) will feature Charlie Rose’s interview with ex-White House chief strategist Steve Bannon. Given the heightened interest in US politics, it’s surprising Prime didn’t pre-empt this weekend’s 60 Minutes line-up for the interview …

➢ Incidentally, 60 Minutes’ Rose guests on tonight’s Late Show With Stephen Colbert (Prime, 10.35). Appearing tomorrow are John Dickerson, Michael Rapaport and Grizzly Bear, and on Monday, Anthony Scaramucci, Bob Odenkirk and Liam Gallagher …

➢  The latest All Star Family Feud on September 25 (Three, 7.30) will be a re-match that pits Jono and Ben, with Laura Daniel and Angella Dravid, against 7 Days’ Jeremy Corbett, Paul Ego, Urzila Carlson and Josh Thomson …

➢ Ending their runs the same week are The Coroner, Why Are We Fat?, Prime Suspect: Tennison, Ice Road Truckers, American Crime, Back Benches, The Halcyon and Paula …
