HD Highlights: August 2

Season Highlight: The Unit (TV3, 11.35, 5.1) In part one of two, Jonas’ daughter is kidnapped while serving in Iraq, and he and the team attempt a rescue amid the growing animosity within the unit coming to a head. DVD Talk dubbed this a “powerhouse” episode and DVD Verdict said “while there were other stand-out episodes, ‘Into Hell, Parts 1 & 2’ really gave the cast, writers, and crew a chance to show the immense heart and soul of the show, while rewarding fans with some much-needed closure and retribution”. ✭✭✭✭

SoHo Highlight: Weeds (Sky 10, 8.30, 5.1) Nancy and Silas chase after Shane, who has discovered the identity of the shooter; Andy attempts to bond with Jill’s daughters; Doug and Whit come up with a new plan. The Huffington Post said this episode “completes the transition between the prior season and the current, wrapping up the biggest thread held over from Nancy’s shooting. Specifically, the inevitable confrontation between the Botwin family and Tim Scottson.” ✭✭✭

Bones (TV3, 8.30, 5.1, F) Star David Boreanaz directs the season finale, which features the return of evil tech genius Christopher Pelant, a suspect in a previous case Brennan and Booth handled, back in court on appeal. ✭✭✭

Episodes (TV One, 10.10) After the pilot has wrapped, Matt and Sean’s goodbye takes an unexpected turn involving a missing Jaguar, a red-nosed reindeer and the smell of cinnamon. ✭✭✭✭

Fringe (TV2, 10.35, 5.1) While trying to cope with a new set of memories, Olivia discovers that a mentally ill patient who is a suspect in a string of murders may be connected to her own past. ✭✭✭✭
