HD Highlights: September 12

Series Premiere: Underbelly: Badness (TV3, 8.30) When a prisoner is abducted and murdered, police embark on a 10-year man-hunt for the killers that leads them to an under-the-radar underworld boss. The Slap’s Jonathan LaPaglia stars. “With a new format that’s not-so-much cops and robbers as cops and psychopathic crime lords, Underbelly gets a rewarding murderous makeover,”said the Sydney Morning Herald. “Look it’s got the key elements – the ‘it’s a jungle out there’ theme song, the random acts of nudity, and the wonderful trip down retro music lane – but this is a different Underbelly. We’re following the cops this time and it makes for a pleasant change after the slasher soap opera of Razor.” ✭✭✭✭

The Ridges (TV3, 7.30) Series Premiere: Can Sally and Jaime Ridge keep up with the Kardashians? The synopsis for the first episode doesn’t sound promising – Jaime reveals what it’s like to grow up in the public eye and Sally reflects on the backlash she’s had from the media – but who can resist at least one backstage peek at the mother-and-daughter double-act? Precedes the return of Drug Bust. ✭✭✭

❑ Castle (TV One, 9.30, 5.1) Castle and Beckett investigate the murder of a man with human bite marks on his body. Could a zombie attack be to blame? ✭✭✭

❑ The Killing (TV3, 9.30, 5.1) The investigation into Rosie’s killer begins as Sarah and Holder question the missing girl’s parents, Stan and Mitch, as well as Rosie’s friends and City Councilman Richmond. ✭✭✭✩
