HD Hikes Freeview Sales
HD’s popularity has helped Freeview to post its highest performing quarter since launching in 2007.
As of 31 December, 346,116 households had Freeview reception, with the biggest hike coming in Freeview|HD homes – up 42,354, to 156,408.
Over the same October-December period, Freeview satellite homes rose by 11,791, to 189,708.
Freeview general manager Sam Irvine attributes Freeview’s reach to 21.6% of homes partly to higher sales of Freeview|HD receivers, MyFreeview|HD digital TV recorders and Freeview|HD integrated digital TVs.
“These impressive quarterly figures, our best ever, indicate that New Zealanders are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of moving their viewing from analogue TV to Freeview-enabled digital TV.”
