HD Ratings: 3rd Degree Finishes 2nd
TV3’s premiere of NZ’s first HD current affairs hour, 3rd Degree, made a solid debut on Wednesday when it easily out-rated TV One’s Winners & Losers.
3rd Degree was never going to beat TV2’s mix of My Kitchen Rules and HD sitcoms but it rated higher than last week’s Wild Colombia finale, averaging 5.7% – 6.5% of the key demographics.
While the programme was criticised for shamelessly giving Anna Guy a platform, and a “light grilling“, the show’s household shoppers viewership increased sharply while she was on, peaking at 9.1%.
Winners & Losers, meanwhile, limped along with 2.6% – 4.8% while The Big Bang Theory averaged 13.7% – 19.1% and 2 Broke Girls 11.2% – 15.2%.
TV2’s blockbuster line-up flowed through to astonishingly strong 10.30 ratings for The Walking Dead: 3.5% – 5.5%.
But it couldn’t dent Sons of Anarchy’s horsepower, which again won the 9.30 hour with 7.2% – 10.2%.
