HD Ratings: Fab Figures for Filthy Rich and Family Feud

Two local shows premiered to top ratings last night on TV2 and TV3.

Filthy Rich, which continues tonight at 8.30, easily won its slot by averaging 6.5% – 10.1% of the core commercial demographics and delivering 23.7-28.6 channel shares.

And at 5.30, TV3’s Family Feud out-rated even TV2’s Home and Away in the 18-39 demo, albeit only just, and beat TV One’s Millionaire Hot Seat outright.

In the 25-54 demo, it scored a 4.6 rating/21.0 share compared to the slot’s four-week average of a 1.4 rating/7.5 share.

But this didn’t lead to Newshub Live at 6pm beating One News at Six: instead, it lost to its rival in each of the key demos, as did lead-out Story to Seven Sharp.

However, expect the gap between the news hours to narrow as Family Feud’s ratings rise.

TV One’s Our First Home improved on its premiere, with ratings of 3.5% – 7.8%, but was still beaten by House Rules (4.4% – 8.1%) while TV2’s double-episode of The Middle won the 7.30 hour in the 18-39 and 18-49 demos off the back of Shortland Street’s 10.7% – 13.2%.

Filthy Rich finished well ahead of TV One’s Criminal Minds (3.8% – 5.3%) and TV3’s Knight and Day re-run, helping the return of The Walking Dead (4.5% – 6.8%) to win the 9.30 hour in the 18-39 and 18-49 demos while the Tom Cruise movie (3.1% – 7.6%) dominated in the others.

Castle finished third at 9.30 with 2.1% – 3.7% of the key demos.

Overall, TV2 won the night in all the core demos, with TVNZ reporting its peak audiences were 31% higher than in the last four Monday, but TV3 finished ahead of TV One except in the 25-54 race, where the latter was three-tenths of a ratings point in front.

We need a much stronger line-up for TV2’s Sunday night, no one wants movies. They won’t bother to watch TV and will go for DVDs instead.
