HD Ratings: A Better Thursday for Three

After weeks of struggling, Three’s Demolition Down Under and Cocaine Trade Exposed rebounded on Thursday.

Demolition still lost to TVNZ 2’s Police Ten 7 and A Current Affair but Cocaine Trade beat both Filthy House SOS and TVNZ 1’s Coronation Street in the core commercial demographics.

It averaged 2.3% of 25-54 year-olds vs 1.0% for Coro and 0.8% for SOS; in the 18-49 demo, Cocaine averaged 1.3% and its rivals 0.7% each.

Demolition averaged 2.0% of 25-54s and 1.6% of 18-49s vs 3.1% / 2.3% for Ten 7 and 1.9% / 1.6% for ACA.

The previous week Demolition averaged 1.8% / 1.3% and Cocaine 1.1% / 0.7%.

TVNZ 2’s MasterChef Australia won the 7.30 slot with 25-54s but lost the 18-49 race to TVNZ 1’s My Impossible House; Three’s Lego Masters finished third in each demo.

TVNZ 1’s final of Diana’s Decades averaged 2.2% of 25-54s and 1.2% of 18-49s vs 2.1% / 1.6% for Wednesday’s episode.

The popularity of TVNZ 1’s news hour and Seven Sharp, which averaged twice the 25-54 viewership of Three’s Newhub Live and The Project, helped TVNZ 1 to win Thursday night with 30+ shares of the core demos; Three was in second place.

TVNZ 1 also won Wednesday night but the contest was much closer between TVNZ 2 and Three: the latter narrowly won the 25-54 demo and the former 18-49.

TVNZ 2’s Taskmaster won the 8.30 hour, with 2.9% of 25-54s and 2.6% of 18-49s, which was well down on the previous week’s premiere.

Three’s LA’s Finest averaged 2.3% / 1.6% on the back of 3.4% / 2.8% for The Block NZ, which was pipped by MasterChef’s 3.6% / 2.9%.

TVNZ 1’s Beat the Chasers was unbeaten in the 25-54 demo but finished third with 18-49s.

At 9.30, Three’s Hawaii Five-O had a rare 25-54 win but lost to Would I Lie to You? in the 18-49 demo.
