HD Ratings: A Good Night for 7 Days

After struggling for most of its new season, 7 Days rebounded on Thursday to win its slot in the crucial 25-54 and 18-49 demographics.

The panel show averaged 3.3% of Three’s key 25-54 demo and 2.8% of 18-49s.

Its popularity helped lead-out New Zealand Today to win with 18-49s (1.8%) but its 25-54 average (2.1%) was narrowly beaten by TVNZ 1’s 10 Years Younger in 10 Days in the same half-hour period (2.2%).

If Three could find a stronger 7.30 anchor than Celebrity IOU, which finished third with 2.8% of 25-54s and 1.7% of 18-49s, then it would be well placed to deliver 2nd Chance Charlie a stronger audience at 9.30.

It averaged 1.9% of 25-54s and 1.3% of 18-49s, which was enough to out-rate the first half of TVNZ 2’s Police Code Zero but not TVNZ 1’s overlap of 10 Years and Coronation Street.

TVNZ 1’s Your Garden Made Perfect won the 7.30 hour with 25-54s (4.0%) but 18-49s opted for TVNZ 2’s Police Ten 7 and Motorway Patrol.

TVNZ 2’s Renters and A Current Affair were competitive with Three’s comedies in the 18-49 demo but still finished third for the 8.30 hour.

Coronation Street also had a better night, with its riveting storyline about Seb’s murder, winning its slot with 25-54s but narrowly losing to the competition on TVNZ 2 and Three in the 18-49 demo.

Earlier in the day, TVNZ 1 and Three’s budget coverage was neck-and-neck.

TVNZ 1 won the night with the biggest 25-54 and 18-49 shares; Three  was second in the 25-54 stakes and TVNZ 2 was runner-up with 18-49s.
